The latest Marvel Studios release is a spectacular and irresistibly entertaining blend of humor, emotion, and cosmic adventure. It continues the adventures of the Guardians as they traverse the outer reaches of space to fight all-powerful foes and unravel mysteries that could hold the key to defeating an encroaching evil that threatens everything in their universe. The action sequences are exciting as well as dazzling. And with its unmatched visuals, dazzling soundtrack, and astonishing special effects, Guardians provides a cinematic experience unlike anything seen before in Marvel’s deep-space franchise. It’s been more than two years since Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), first flew into theaters with his misfit band of galactic heroes. Now the Guardians of the Galaxy are back for another round of action that may be even more fun than the first. The movie opens on an intergalactic scene showing an orange brick planet with four moons orbiting it, which turns out to be Ego, who claims himself to be Star Lord's father. Later on Egos spaceship is flying at high speed through space docking somewhere, Quill walks up to him and finds out that he is Peter's father and that they must rescue Gamora from her sister Nebula. They arrive at the Ravager's base on Berhert, they kill all the Ravagers and Beast (a member of the Guardians) reveals that Yondu Udonta (also a long time member of the Ravagers) is alive. Star Lord convinces Yondu to join them in their fight against Ego. The Guardians then go to Ego's planet, only to find out that he is not good. He tries to kill Peter by turning into a giant monster, they fight and Ego dies when he sacrifices himself so that his son would live. The Guardians of the Galaxy are now threatened by Ayesha, the leader of the Sovereign race which Quill previously angered. Ayesha then sends many warriors to try and stop Star Lord but they all fail. Ayesha then attacks Xandar with an army of drones causing heavy damage to the planet before being stopped just in time by Quill. The movie ends with Quill finally being able to come home.
